And who am I? That’s one secret I’ll never tell… yeah just kidding.

My name’s Sawyer and I’m a full time law student with one foot out the door in New York City, the other here in Athens, Georgia finishing out my final year of law school, and both feet in an adorable pair of shoes I probably found on Depop.

Pearls & Pleadings is my little corner of the internet for the classes, the casebooks, figuring out what comes next and everything in between. This is my diary, definitely, but I also hope it can be a helpful to other young women trying to enter this city, this profession, or just the adult world in general.

There is SO much advice out there on law school, but considerably less about how to build a life while you’re in it. What do you actually wear to class, a job, a date? How do you afford professional clothes on a student’s budget? What do you meal prep in a week where you barely have time to eat in the first place? How do you navigate relationships, friendships, hobbies, your pets in addition to interviews, networking, finance, and just general young adult life?

I don’t pretend to have all the answers. But I want to bring you along with me as I figure it out. Hopefully, I’ll be able to tell you what works, what doesn’t, and what I wish someone had told me before I learned it the hard way.
